What is protein diet?
Protein diet is also
known as Atkins diet. Dietary regimen, as a diet, increases the amount of
protein a person consumes in his daily diet in exchange for a significant
reduction in the amount of carbohydrates, leading to the body's dependence on
burning the fat accumulated in it for energy. Protein diet is therefore quick,
so you can lose weight by about 7 kilo in just 14 days.
Atkins's diet is based
on eating a balanced amount of protein, carbohydrates and fat. Atkins says it
is not necessary to reduce the amount of meat eaten, but rather to control the
amount of carbohydrates eaten daily.
Stages of protein
dieting:
Important Note: The
protein diet is divided into 4 basic stages. You can start dieting at any of
the first three stages depending on your weight loss goals.
First: Induction stage.
This phase lasts for at
least 14 days depending on the weight you want to lose. You should drink 8
glasses of water daily.
During this phase you
should eat protein in every meal such as cheese, eggs, poultry, meat, fish and
oysters. You do not need to restrict fats and oils, but in turn you have to
give up carbohydrates almost entirely, and be satisfied with only 20 grams to
get only 10% of the calories of carbohydrates instead of the normal situation,
which ranges between 45% and 65% . Vegetables in your diet should also be 12-15
grams of total carbohydrates you eat on a daily basis. These include peppers,
green beans, cucumbers, cauliflower, celery and asparagus. It is also forbidden
to eat nuts, cereals, pasta, bread, sugary baked goods and most fruits.
Second: the budget
stage.
During this phase of
protein dieting you should continue to eat protein, and also eat at least 12:
15 grams of pure carbohydrates that are represented in the above-mentioned
vegetables in the induction stage along with some nutritious carbohydrates such
as nuts, seeds and berries. As long as you continue to lose weight you should
stay at this stage to lose no more than 4.5 kg. In contrast, you should avoid
foods that contain added sugar and continue to drink plenty of water daily.
Third: the
pre-continuity phase.
During this phase of the
protein diet you can gradually increase the number of foods you eat such as
whole grains, starchy vegetables and fruits, and you can add 10 grams of
carbohydrates in your diet every week and note the reduction in quantity in
case of cessation of weight loss. You have to stay at this stage until you lose
the weight you want, so you have to weigh your body every day in the morning on
an empty stomach and after entering the bathroom and in light sleep clothes.
Fourth: the stage of
continuity.
When you reach the
desired weight in the pre-continuation stage, you should move to this stage of
Atkins diet and you can continue at this stage for life, it is not dieting but
general guidance only to not gain weight lost again and is the stage of weight
stabilization after dieting.
